Education Philosophy

I believe the children are our future...
I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will assist children in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. I have a vision of a world where people learn to respect, accept, and embrace the differences between us, as the core of what makes life so fascinating.

Teach them well and let them lead the way...
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning relevant to life. I will incorporate themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners. Finally, I will tie learning into the world community to help children become caring and active members of society.

Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride...
My classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can blossom and grow. I will allow children to become responsible members of our classroom community by using strategies such as class meetings, positive discipline, and democratic principles. In showing children how to become responsible for themselves as well as their own learning, I am giving them the tools to become successful in life, to believe in themselves, and to love themselves.

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be...
Teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the children. Children have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Because of this, I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old, and laugh with the children.

Simulation and Modeling

Simulation is used in the design process of dynamic systems. The results of simulation are employed for validating a model, and they are helpful for the improvement of the design of a system with respect to both, qualitative and quantitative properties. The paper concentrates on these aspects and applications of simulation in education, advocates its presence in student curricula, presents building blocks of education modules for simulation and validation with respect to both content and method, discusses requirements for simulation and validation education, and finally suggests the integration of simulation teachware in virtual classrooms and distance learning environments. Modeling and simulation is almost necessarily based on modeling languages with precise semantics. In education as well as in practice, suitable computer tools should be employed. We suggest Petri nets with sequential semantics and partial order semantics as a modeling language. The contribution is based on experiences from several university courses on system modeling and simulation with Petri nets, including practical training. Moreover, relevant concepts from recent distance learning projects are mentioned.

Smart school

What are "Smart Schools"?
The definition of "Smart School" is one that uses a technology platform as a medium on which distance learning and specific teaching expertise are made available to remote locations including the home, with out compromise to the quality of information transfer and certified teaching methods developed locally, regionally or internationally.

Why "Smart Schools"?
The ratio of certified teachers to students in the nation needs to be augmented by other means in order to prepare our primary and secondary school students for the feature, especially in the area of socio-economic integration. We are in the process of rebuilding our country by using our most precious asset, our people. Hence, we must provide the best education possible to everyone, so that the rebuilding process will demonstrate a nation ready to leap forward spiritually , socially, and economically.
Smart Schools will be the medium through which we can achieve this goal by maximizing global teaching expertise and improving the availability of global information to the nation through the initiation of the Virtual class room.

What is a Virtual Class Room?
A Virtual Classroom provides the learning experience of a real time classroom with out being physically located in the classroom. For example, a teacher/professor holding classes on a specific topic in a classroom with students who could be locally, regionally, or internationally located, can also project the lecture to virtual classrooms electronically, incorporating the use of high quality bidirectional audio and video transmission.

What are the benefits of "Smart Schools"?
"Smart Schools" can provide many options to the learning experience. We can now be tutored remotely, by the best sources available adhering to international standards. Curricula can be developed with topics to prepare our nation to compete internationally and move our economy forward. We can maximize teaching expertise, together with a more thorough utilization of our population, in areas such as the physically disabled and our senior members. Everyone can enjoy the learning experience, pursue new careers, and learn at a pace that is more appropriate for our inherent abilities. Lessons can be stored and retrieved in many formats to facilitate student flexibility. Compact Discs with lesson plans can be made available to students not being able to attend real time classes. With a computer we can now be exposed to the knowledge of the world, pursue certification in many fields, and acquire the confidence that education affords us from the privacy of our homes.

A demonstration of the "Smart School" concept is in progress and will be aired to the nation as soon as the appropriate platforms are deployed.
